Chapter 14 - The Order of Falafel

Denim's now the official defacto Valerian Liberation Army leader and is taking the fight to the Bacrum. Meanwhile, Lans and Lans have a heart-to-heart in le dungeon and our dear paladin is left to rot. Denim heads to Brigantes castle, again, to have a nice conversation with the Order of Falahel and meet his dad. He promised to go without weapons, but we "forgot" and had to fight the front guard. Inside Denim learns he is Bacrum and his uncle is Cardinal Branta. He also meets a long lost childhood friend and some other people.

The Army
After a random battle or two, we are staggered between levels 25 and 27. At this point in the game the enemies in random battles can be a much greater level than us. Most everyone has some special gear or spell now.

Unit Spotlight - Tiamat
Yes, I already did dragons, but I didn't cover Tiamat, really. They're the penultimate dragon class for C aligned dragons. They have the Toxic Breath attack and Terror, which functions just like the Terror Knight's passive. They also have enhanced attribute growth and higher resistances. We're not going to face a lot of them until Hell Gate, but most of us are C anyway, so it won't matter. I've never used a dragon this much before and it's actually a refreshing change to my normal style. Our resident Tiamat is Jay and he just got there. Wish him luck.

Jay - Tiamat - Wind
Kills: 40
Achievements: Charming, Quite Charming, Late Bloomer

You finally made it; you're a Tiamat now. Your sprite is grotesque and your breath is toxic. Yes, you still retain the Toxic Breath special move, so even though everyone should be scared shitless of you, they are charmed instead. Attributes grow faster now and you have obtained the Terror ability. It works exactly like the terror knight's passive, so now anyone you're fighting of N or L alignment will be weaker while standing next to you. Too bad your movement is low and your speed sucks. You were also last to become your intended class, youre a late bloomer.

Gage - Knight - Fire
Kills: 18
Achievements: Close Call, Damsel In Distress, Stone of Shame, Face Blocker

I gave you the Black Shield for three reasons: 1) You're one of two guys who uses a shield. And 2) You might as well be useful for absorbing magics, because 3) Your evasion is atrocious and magic makes it worse. Of course now you can't be healed by spells, so we'll have to make use of items.

Logan - Warlock - Fire
Kills: 4
Achievements: Here Comes The Stun

Your new spell is Paradigm. It reduces the WT of the target to 0, so they get a turn right away. This is extremely useful, most of the time I give it to an archer so they can finish off an enemy or a healer so they can save us. So far you've been using all of your spells and not favoring one or the other.

Sagar - Berserker - Fire
Kills: 13
Achievements: Cock Block, Last Stand

You have such a hot axe... The Gramrock Axe in your hands is devastating; it's fire elemental so you're getting a bonus for that. Surprisingly it is the weaker of all of the elemental axes, but it's fast. I like to just run you up into everyone and get you chopping.

Jon - Berserker - Water
Kills: 14
Achievements: Boss Blocks

I have no idea what happened, but your evade rate is abysmal. Guess I need to give you some more ninja levels.

Brian - Lizard Man - Water
Kills: 25
Achievements: Murder Hobo, Stone of Shame
Nothing to note this time, we'll be back to speed next mission.

Velika - Witch - Earth
Kills: 6
Achievements: Dragon Charmer, Stone Cold, Close Call
One of your levels was wasted on the Witch class, the other was siren, so your DEX is falling off a bit. Time to archer again, because I need those petrifies to land, damn it.

Rob - Golem - Wind
Kills: 2
Achievements: Wall of Heal
You'll notice you now carry "Pomme," which is a fruit that heals status ailments. Your job as a healing delivery service has gained a new purpose.

Peter - Earth - Terror Knight
Kills: 44
Achievements: Boss Blocks
Turns out Granite Armor doesn't save you from a bunch of arrows. Oh well, I can still heal you from afar. Warping tends to get you into trouble.

Jeff
Kills: 19
Achievements: Bitchin, Gnome Sayin
I saw your meteor spell do over 100 damage, which is great. I'm glad to see that all of your spells are useful, even doing less damage with acid has its purpose. I gave you the Crystal armor, because I thought you could use it more with your low defensive attributes. It weighs you down a little, but it's good that you go after Logan anyway since he needs to charge you before you move.

Josh - Dragoon - Earth
Kills: 18
Achievements: Early Riser, One Hit Wonder, Full Set
Even though you have the highest DEX score of our team, you still failed to murder that Siren in the last battle.

Dylan - Terror Knight - Wind
Kills: 37
Achievements: Stone of Shame, Survivor
...

Battles
There's only one battle this chapter; I would have recorded another fight, but it was over in two turns.

Battle 1
https://youtu.be/AkpQ4d49oWE
I had the option of going there unarmed and alone to avoid a fight, but what would this chapter be without any carnage? Besides, one of the guys has a Black Shield, which negates all magic cast on the wielder.

Fucking West Brigantes again. As you can guess, this battle was slightly difficult due to the giant fucking lake in the middle of the map. Things are different though, because some of us can fly and teleport! However, the enemy is all equipped with grease boots or wing rings, allowing them to walk on water and fly. There are also a few archers that can wreck our shit if we're not careful.

Blah blah blah blah blah some guys did some things and the princess is alive and denim dolgare branta blah blah blah.

Basically the Dark Knights are assisting Kachua in reclaiming the Valerian throne, the Cardinal is not trustworthy, and Denim is fighting for the freedom of his entire land.

At Heigm, Lans goes down into the dungeon to have a talk with Lans, one-on-one, eye to eyes. Yes, Lans Tartare has Lans Hamilton captive. They bicker about philosophy and what most humans really want. Tartare seems to think they want to be the victim and to be lazy, so they need to be controlled by the strong. They should fight for their rights instead of letting others do it for them. Hamilton thinks everyone has the freedom to choose what they want to do with their lives and that not everyone is strong like him and his one-eyed friend. Kachua comes in and - as usual - can only talk about herself before running off to go cry or bleed out of her stupid vagina. She really needs to see a therapist about her obsession with her "brother".

Meanwhile, Denim is hesitating to do anything, because he doesn't know what the dark knights are up to. Before he can make a decision, a soldier barges in telling them some soldiers in Brigantes have taken hostages and wanting Bacrum's surrender. Turns out something called the Filaha order are gaining influence in the realm and they have some strange ideas of what "ethnic unity" is. Denim says he'll go without weapons to talk to them peacefully.

Well that doesn't happen. Denim had a bow equipped so the soldiers at the gate are MAD! They get into a scuffle and Denim takes no prisoners or lets anyone escape, they're all dead and he now possesses the mighty Black Shield. Oh well, he goes inside the castle and meets with the leader of the order, who is Denim's father. Olivia informs him that Plancy is dying due to "fatal disease..." Inside, Plancy tells Denim about Kachua's true identity. She was begat by King Dolgare and one of his lusty handmaidens named Manafloa. Manafloa runs away because the Queen is Mad, so I guess we know where Kachua gets her bitchiness. She dies giving birth to the child while in Plancy's care.

He meets with Branta, who tells him to raise Kachua as his own and promises to "take care of everything" in terms of what happens to Valeria. Ha! Guess how that all turned out. So Plancy tells Denim that the Dark Knights have some hidden purpose and aren't just being nice guys trying to restore the queen's throne, they're looking for something called Dolgare's Treasure. He dies. Then Olivia drops a bomb on Denim which causes him to become some sort of weird sack of potatoes: he's Bacrum! Whoa! Denim makes a huge deal out of this when it really isn't, but Olivia also reveals that she is one of his long lost childhood friends and that he is the nephew of Branta. This is all very sudden for us since we had no context of any of this shit until just now.

After regaining his resolve, Olivia, Selye, and Sisteena convinces Denim to go to some temple to find their father for some reason and also to confront Shelley, their other sister. Now it's off to Banhamuda Temple.
